Why every gift matters

Behind every gift is a family being cared for

Christmas can be the hardest time of year for someone living with a life-limiting illness, and for the people who love them. Our nurses, doctors and counsellors are there for them through it all, and your Christmas shopping helps keep them there. Here is some of what your support made possible last year.

  • 143admissions to our Inpatient Unit
  • 6,503visits and contacts with patients by our community palliative care teams
  • 772Day Therapy attendances
  • 111grieving children and young people referred to Healing Hearts

Our care in 2025/26. Every service is free to patients and families, and donations from our community fund more than 60% of our annual budget.

Tree Lighting Ceremony · Thursday 17 December · 7pm

Join us as the lights are switched on

Every December we gather in the Hospice grounds to switch on the Lights of Love on our Christmas tree. Everyone is welcome, whether or not you have dedicated a light. Entry is free and there is no need to book.

This year, the Sharkey family will switch on the lights in memory of Adrian, a husband, father, grandad, teacher and carer who spent his life giving to others. We are honoured that they have chosen to share this moment with us.
