Welcome to Foyle Hospice

Celebrating almost 35 years providing specialist palliative care In the North West

Spanning over a period of almost 35 years, Foyle Hospice has become synonymous with palliative care services and support across the North West.  As an organisation, we are very proud of our reputation and extremely privileged to have cared for almost 16,000 patients and their families to date.

Each year, our specialist community palliative care team at Foyle Hospice engage with many new patients who are living with a life limiting illness.  We offer care, support and advice in order to manage symptoms and relieve pain for the patient.

Those with more complex symptom issues may be admitted to our Inpatient Unit, where they can avail of treatment and ‘around the clock’ care to control their difficult symptoms, in a ‘home from home’ environment enabling them to return home again, under the supervision of the Primary Care Team.  Almost 60% of all patients admitted do return home after receiving Inpatient Unit care and their quality of life is improved.

Our Day Hospice also provides a relaxed atmosphere where patients can benefit from a range of activities including complementary therapies.  Foyle Hospice is strongly focused on providing the best quality of life for patients and families, encompassing not only physical care, but also recognising the need for emotional, social and spiritual support.

We have over 500 volunteers who support our staff in offering services and support to patients and families.  These include complementary therapies, entertainment, beauty and hair treatments, counselling, gardening, dining, as well as fundraising and retail activities.
