Patient and Hospice Stories

Foyle Hospice is a special, compassionate, open and warm hospice which cares for patients and their families. Patients and their families might be nervous or apprehensive about coming to the hospice as a patient of visiting for the first time. Some of patients families have shared their stories, to open the doors to Hospice Care and show that Foyle Hospice is a caring, home from home with open doors and loving arms.

You can read some of our stories below.

Meet the Walker Family who will be switched on our Lights of Love in 2023 in memory of Iris Walker who was cared for by Foyle Hospice Services.

Meet the Fitzgerald Family who switched on last year’s Lights of Love in memory of their Mother and Wife Helena who was cared for by Foyle Hospice Services in 2021. This amazing family has been guided through their bereavement journey by Healing Hearts and their story is told so well by Anthony, Helena’s husband.

We had the privilege of sitting down with Breidge Doherty, and her family while Breidge was receiving care in the inpatient unit. They shared Breidge’s journey of cancer diagnosis and treatment, her experience in the Foyle Hospice inpatient unit, the friends she made, and the support she received in Day Therapy.
