The Integrative Care Clinic at Foyle Day Hospice has been running since July 2015. It aims to be a source of support to anyone living with life-limiting medical condition(s) which are impacting on daily quality of life. Quality of life is the focus of the clinic, which aims to maximise wellbeing and to help individuals and families learn how to care for themselves in the midst of potential change. The clinic works with the whole healthcare team, in particular with GPs and district nurses to develop shared planning and help negotiate the complexities which any journey through the healthcare system can involve. It is currently funded by the Integrated Care Partnership initiative.
The clinic is located in the Day Hospice Building, on the Foyle Hospice site. Appointments are available between 10am and 4pm Tuesday to Thursday, and referrals are accepted from any healthcare professional. The clinic offers access to Day Hospice for anyone who wishes to use its resources. Day Hospice offers individualised holistic support, which includes Specialist nursing assessment and a range of potential therapies. A group of highly skilled accredited and committed volunteers offers therapies, which include reflexology, massage, counselling, acupuncture, yoga, Tai Chi, music, art, hairdressing, beauty and others.
