The difference you'll help make

Foyle Hospice provides a wide range of palliative and end-of-life care services to residents across the Western Health and Social Care Trust area and surrounding areas.

We're here for people at the most difficult of times, when they need us most — and our trustees help make sure we can keep being there. We're strengthening our Board by appointing new trustees who can help shape and guide our future direction and development.

About the role

We're looking for new trustees who can offer up to approximately four hours a month. You'll be able to think strategically and work collaboratively with colleagues to help shape and guide the future direction and development of Foyle Hospice.

This is a voluntary, unpaid position for an initial term of three years.

Where your experience fits

Experience at a senior level in any of these areas would be of particular interest. Not sure if your background fits? An informal chat is the perfect place to start.

Nurse or Clinician

A background in community healthcare, bringing a frontline perspective on the needs of patients and families.

Qualified Accountant

Financial expertise to support strong, transparent stewardship of our funds.

Human Resources Management

People and workforce expertise to help us support and develop our staff and volunteers.

Legal Profession

Legal expertise to guide the Board on obligations, risk and good practice.

Retail & Commercial experience

Commercial and retail insight to help grow our shops and wider income.

Diversity & Inclusion

A commitment to inclusion, helping us reflect and serve our diverse community.

Am I eligible?

To keep our Board independent and free from conflicts of interest, you're unable to become a trustee if you:

  • are related to an existing or previous employee or volunteer of Foyle Hospice
  • have a professional relationship with a Foyle Hospice employee
  • have worked as an employee of Foyle Hospice within the last six years

The application pack sets out the full declaration you'll be asked to make, which also covers matters such as age, unspent convictions and any disqualification from acting as a charity trustee or company director. If you're unsure about anything, please contact our Chief Executive, Donall Henderson, on 028 7135 1010.

Before you start: this form is completed in one sitting, so it's worth getting everything ready first. If you're writing longer answers, draft them somewhere else — a Word document or an email to yourself — and paste them in when you get there.
