Foyle Hospice is pleased to announce the return of our much loved ‘Ladies Only’ Cycle event on Sunday 29th September. This event, organised in association with Foyle Cycling Club, is being run to foster the two-wheeled sport of cycling among women as well as raising much needed funds for a local charity.
Evelyn Callan, Foyle Cycle Club said ‘The Foyle Hospice is a cause close to my heart. It is a pleasure to once again to be involved in such a successful event in Ladies Cycling. Last year we had over 100 ladies taking part and we now hope to build on that for an event which brings together beginners and more seasoned cyclists. By getting involved you can enjoy an exciting new challenge, meet new people, and do something with colleagues, friends or family to raise money for a great charity!.
Once again we are delighted to introduce our ‘Couch to 50K (35mile)’ Programme for the novice and returning cyclist. As part of the lead up to this year’s cycle Foyle Cycling Club will host weekly training sessions for ladies of all abilities to help them prepare for the event. Whether you have never been on a bike before or you just want to improve your skills and distance, come along on Thursday 1st August at 7 p.m. to the fund raising unit at Foyle Hospice, Culmore Road for our information session.
On Sunday 29th September there will be a choice of three different routes. Route 1, 20miles on cycle path with a difficulty rating of ‘Easy’, Route 2, 25miles on road with a difficulty rating of ‘Moderate’ and Route 3, 50miles on road. The cycle will leave from the Hospice at 10am, with sign in/registration commencing at 8.30am. All participants will receive a finishers medal upon their return to the Foyle Hospice along with a well earned “cuppa” and some delicious home baked goodies.
