Foyle Hospice in association with Seagate and Loganair is bringing back the virtual Female Walk following last year’s huge success. The walk this year will continue to follow the current pandemic and restrictions surrounding events and outdoor group gatherings and adhering to regulations for social distancing.

You can complete your Female Walk in the month of, when and where you wish. Whether you follow the iconic route alone or in small groups or complete your walk where ever you may be, at your own favourite walking routes this virtual event is not to be missed. As in previous years, we welcome women all over the world, to join in and take part in an event that has shaped the fundraising calendar of the North West since 1983.

One thing remains the same, everyone that enters will receive a specially designed Female Walk T-shirt. This year’s shirt celebrates the special 30th Anniversary of the opening of the inpatient unit on Culmore Road.

Sheila Duffy, Director of Income Generation and Communications said: “The Foyle Hospice Female Walk launched in 1983 and has been running annually since 2000. We are delighted that Seagate will be supporting the event again this year and are especially proud to be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the opening of our 9-bed facility on Culmore Road.

We have had the honour of caring for local patients and their families there since 1991. All proceeds from the Female Walk help towards the running costs of the hospice and the specialist services that we offer our community. We want to flood social media with our Female Walk posts and pictures of support, once you have completed your walk, we invite you to upload your picture to social media tagging @FoyleHospice.”

Sign-up for the female walk online at and you will receive your fundraising pack in the mail. Your pack will have your t-shirt and also details on how to create your own online sponsorship form on JustGiving or Facebook. Share your online fundraising link with family and friends and help raise much-needed funds to support your local Hospice. Help keep the legacy of the Female Walk going strong and sign up for this event and make a difference.
